Hello Haiti!

Landed around noon and were met by an ambitious baggage "helper" who was originally satisfied with $2 to find our bags. Then he tried to wrangle $10 more from each of us to move the bags (via cart) to the curb. (this where the dynamic of missions plays out -- an unforeseen strength in character from a teammate) Look out, we,be got Kathy Harms who on no uncertain terms says "no way" and snatched our customs forms from him and commanded us out of there. Next, our hero in uniform on the other side -- David Harms, our host, in pilots uniform with full authority! Away we go! Like at a slow jog pace pst the masses. Our prepaid bag guy (thank you, David) was so fun, efficient and good at small talk using gestures. A bumpy ride home. AC broke in car. Haiti acclimation, ready or not, here we go...sweating all the way" Delicious lunch made by Christine, great chats and home orientation. Terri is allowed a much needed nap. Next up, dinner, showers, early bed then 7a church and then more mission planning. We're in our new mission home.
