Reconnaissance Mission

Christine with project samples knit by Gloria

Amidst the heat and humidity of Haiti supplies are being gathered and patterns translated into Creole. The excitement builds as Christine works with her church and community to bring together helpers and translators for the classes. Please be praying that God will prepare the hearts of the women coming as well as ours as we teach them to knit and build relationships. I'm currently in Haiti visiting David and Christine and it is so much fun to see firsthand plans coming together! Kathy

We've been busy preparing for our trip!  Some of us perfecting our knitting, some learning to knit/purl/cast-on/cast-off.....  We're hoping to take supplies with us to leave with the church so if you have any knitting supplies, scissors or t-shirts without side seams you'd like to donate please let us know!  Yes, t-shirts which we will be transforming into yarn to be knit into dishcloths, rugs and market bags.

Starting July 20, four ladies from Rolling Hills are going on a missional experience to Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  Gloria Cettina, Terri Pace, Kathy Harms and Faith MacQuarrie will teach the practical skill of knitting to a group of local women, in hopes that these women can then turn the skill into an income-producing business.  While there, we intend to develop relationships, encourage our missionary hosts, and share the love of Jesus Christ.
Join us on this journey by following our blog...that will journal our pre-trip story and our Haiti experience!

Anyone have knitting needles or yarn they'd like to donate?!
